Presentation box quality

Authentic Amouage fragrances come in a rigid, lacquered box with a ribbon-pull lid. The exterior finish is flawless — no ripples, scratches, or uneven lacquer. The Amouage crest on the lid is embossed with crisp, fine detail. Counterfeit boxes are noticeably cheaper with uneven finishes.

Crown stopper and bottle

Amouage Iconic bottles feature a distinctive crown-shaped cap in gold-plated metal. The crown has detailed filigree work on authentic pieces. On fakes, the crown is simplified, lighter, and the filigree is either missing or poorly defined.

Inner box and booklet

Authentic Amouage includes a ribbon-pull inner box, a branded white envelope, and a fragrance story booklet. The booklet has quality printing and the Amouage crest on the cover. Missing accessories or poorly printed booklets indicate counterfeits.

Bottle glass clarity

Amouage bottles are made from high-quality clear glass. When held to light, the glass should be completely colorless and free of bubbles. The glass base has Amouage etched into it. Fakes have imperfect glass and the etching is usually absent or shallow.

Scent richness and longevity

Amouage fragrances contain a high concentration of precious natural ingredients including frankincense, rose, oud, and ambergris. The scent should be rich, complex, and last 8–12+ hours on skin. A flat or short-lived scent from a supposedly new bottle is a counterfeit indicator.

Sold at a steep discount

Amouage 100ml EDPs retail from $250–$600+. Any price below $100 is almost certainly counterfeit. Amouage does not authorize heavy discounts and the brand maintains strict MAP pricing at authorized retailers.

Missing presentation box accessories

Authentic Amouage always comes with a full presentation set. A bottle sold without the branded lacquer box, ribbon, and booklet — or in a plain brown box — is not an authorized product.

Crown cap without filigree detail

The iconic Amouage crown should have fine metalwork. Any crown that looks smooth, plastic, or without the distinctive star/filigree pattern is a fake.

Made outside Oman

Authentic Amouage fragrances are manufactured in Muscat, Oman. Any bottle stating a different country of manufacture is a counterfeit.

Flat or synthetic opening

Amouage fragrances are known for dramatic, complex openings. Interlude opens with labdanum and myrrh; Reflection with neroli and rose. If the opening smells flat, synthetic, or headache-inducing, the juice is counterfeit.
