Dior Authenticity Guide

Official site

Complete authenticity guide for Christian Dior fragrances — Sauvage, Miss Dior, J'adore, and the full line.

SOURCE REVIEW PENDING Physical-marker text in this legacy guide is being migrated to linked evidence. Use it as an investigation checklist, not a verdict.

Batch Code Decoder

Where to find it: Stamped on the bottom of the bottle and on the box flap.

Reported format: 2 letters followed by 2 digits (e.g., A1B2) or 4-digit Julian date code. (e.g. A1B2, 3A14)

Authenticity Indicators

These observations can support a review, but no single indicator proves authenticity.

Bottle weight

Authentic Dior bottles are notably heavy. The glass is thick and substantial — fakes often feel hollow or plasticky.

Engraving quality

The Dior logo and product name are laser-engraved on authentic bottles. Fakes often have painted or screened text that can be scratched off.

Magnetic cap closure

Prestige line bottles (Privée, La Collection) have a satisfying magnetic snap on the cap. Fakes rarely replicate this correctly.

Packaging printing

Dior boxes use high-resolution offset printing. Look for crisp text with no bleeding ink, consistent color, and an embossed logo on premium lines.

Cellophane wrap

Factory-sealed Dior products have tight, evenly applied cellophane with a clean tear strip — not loose plastic taped shut.

Reasons to Investigate

A red flag calls for more evidence; it is not a counterfeit verdict on its own.

Misspelled text

Any misspelling of 'Christian Dior', 'Parfums Christian Dior', or the fragrance name is an immediate counterfeit indicator.

Wrong country of manufacture

Authentic Dior is made in France. 'Made in China' or unlabeled country is a red flag.

Weak or 'off' scent

Counterfeits often smell similar but thinner, sharper, or shorter-lasting. Compare to a known-good sample from an authorized retailer.

Uneven sprayer

Authentic Dior sprayers produce a consistent fine mist. A sputtering, uneven, or dripping sprayer indicates a counterfeit or damaged product.

Safer Places to Buy Dior

Start with the brand itself. Third-party stores appear only after we record a dated authorization source; unverified placeholder links stay hidden.

No third-party retailer currently meets our source-and-review requirements.
